ICI Bucharest is a partner in the EUDIS Defence Hackathon 2026 – Spring Edition, an event taking place from March 26–28, 2026, under the theme “Defending Airspace.” The initiative, supported by the European Commission through the European Defence Fund (EDF), brings together young innovators, researchers, students, and professionals from across Europe to develop technological solutions addressing current challenges in the field of defense and security.
The theme of this spring edition, “Defending Airspace,” focuses on identifying solutions for protecting airspace and countering drone-related threats, in the context of strengthening European cooperation in the defense sector.
Participants will work on challenges such as developing cost-effective drone interception systems capable of rapidly responding to current aerial threats and reducing pressure on existing defense resources, creating next-generation drone detection systems adapted to complex scenarios, as well as a locally defined challenge set by the organizers, tailored to the regional defense ecosystem, industrial and research capabilities, and local operational needs.
