Overall objectives of the project

  • the transfer of knowledge and technology to society.

Project description

Through the Lib2Life project, new solutions will be developed to preserve the cultural heritage, promote heritage by state-of-the-art methods and technologies, increase public access to informational resources, improve library services, transfer knowledge and technology to society.

The project will implement scientific innovation standards without neglecting the practical applicability to direct beneficiaries, the users of the four central university libraries (approximately 100.000 students, teachers, researchers), the national library network, the diaspora Romanian communities, the exerts in conservation and rehabilitation of national patrimony, public institutions and decision-makers in the fields of education, culture, information society.

Estimated results

  • analysis of old documents by non-destructive techniques;
  • eLibrary Builder – analysis and extraction of information from scanned documents, conversion to electronic documents;
  • Smart Search service;
  • Cyber-Physical Library: immersive and interactive 3D reconstructions of libraries and digital socio-collaborative annotations for physical books.
