Project description
The project had in mind the substantiation of technical solutions for the implementation of the concept of Smart Safety in a Smart City ecosystem, with an orientation towards increasing the safety of traffic participants through the intelligent monitoring and coordination of pedestrian crossings. The developed conceptual model supports the implementation of the intelligent zebra concept through the integration of IT and communication technologies, with adaptability to traffic scenarios and the specifics of the target areas. The presented solutions proposed innovative models of pedestrian traffic coordination through the use of an intelligent, adaptive pedestrian crossing monitoring system, through the use of a vehicle-to-object and object-to-object communication infrastructure in which interference is avoided and through an intelligent center with learning capacity that achieves the coordination of the traversal process. The proposed intelligent system conceptual model integrates monitoring, control and communication services to enable dynamic management of pedestrian traffic at a crossing. Monitoring, control and communications are the three major aspects with which an adaptive system can perform integration tasks in a smart service environment as defined by SmartCity.
Results
Conceptual model of an integrated adaptive system for monitoring and coordinating pedestrian crossing points, based on the following intermediate results (corresponding to the architectural, functional and integration components):
- Typical scenarios of intersections and crossing public roads with vehicular traffic, using contextual models;
- Specification of the architecture of the adaptive system: components, functional structure, technologies for the detection and tracking of vehicle traffic based on sensor networks;
- Study on the necessary communication infrastructure: vehicle-to-object and object-to-object wireless communications, 5G wireless technologies, interference cancellation schemes;
- Report on the vehicle-object and object-object communication network architecture: rules and criteria for including the vehicle-object and object-object communication infrastructure in an open architecture, the elements of functional structure, control and management;
- Report with the specification of Interface models for intelligent communication between the adaptive system and the communication network: at the hardware level (standard and proprietary interfaces for connecting the physical infrastructures of the monitoring system and the communication network) and at the software level (open interfaces for connecting applications program type from the adaptive pedestrian traffic monitoring and coordination system);
- Conceptual model of the pedestrian traffic coordination center at the crossing point, for which it is specified: the functions and structure of the pedestrian traffic analysis and coordination center, the aspects of integrating a predictive model within the smart center, based on learning, analysis and coordination of pedestrian traffic at crossing points.
