Adrian-Victor Vevera,General Director of the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest, was a keynote speaker at the opening of the fourth edition of Crypto Expo Europe, an event dedicated to blockchain technologies and the crypto industry.
The opening session addressed Europe’s new technological economy and Romania’s position within it. Alongside Victor Negrescu, Vice President of the European Parliament, the General Director of ICI Bucharest highlighted the need to strengthen digital infrastructure, applied research, and cooperation between public institutions, academia, and the private sector.
“The development of emerging technologies, including blockchain and artificial intelligence, must be supported through investments in research, infrastructure, and digital skills. A clear regulatory framework, such as MiCA, can contribute to increasing trust and fostering market maturity,” stated Adrian-Victor Vevera.
The event takes place on March 1–2, 2026, and features debates, workshops, and networking sessions covering key topics for the digital ecosystem: decentralized finance (DeFi), real-world asset tokenization, the integration of artificial intelligence with blockchain, cybersecurity, institutional adoption, and the impact of the European MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) Regulation. This year’s edition is held at a time when the digital asset market is undergoing a recalibration phase following the growth cycles of 2024 and 2025, amid heightened volatility and the approaching July 1, 2026, deadline for full compliance with the MiCA Regulation.
