The National Institute for Research - Development in Informatics (ICI Bucharest) participated in the conference "Digital Truths: A Conversation on Misinformation" organised by the Faculty of Communication and Public Relations of SNSPA. The event occurred today, October 9, 2023, at the SNSPA headquarters and gathered specialists, representatives of public institutions in Romania and experts in combating disinformation to discuss practical strategies to counter disinformation in the digital environment.

The first part of the conference took place in the form of an interactive discussion between Adrian-Victor Vevera, general director of ICI Bucharest and Beth Goldberg, head of the Research and Development Department at Jigsaw, a Google unit that explores threats to open societies. The Director General emphasised the importance of technology research to meet the current challenges of disinformation and also highlighted the vital role of collaboration between research institutions, governments and tech companies in identifying effective solutions to this global problem.

"Combating disinformation is a complex mission that requires sustained and coordinated efforts. Disinformation is a serious threat to our society, and only through its interdisciplinary approach can we develop effective strategies to combat it," said Adrian-Victor Vevera. In the second part of the event, Beth Goldberg held a workshop, giving participants a more detailed insight into innovative technologies and approaches in the fight against disinformation.

The "Digital Truths: A Conversation on Misinformation" conference once again demonstrated the importance of collaboration between academia, the public sector and industry to successfully address the challenges of misinformation in the digital environment.
