Adrian-Victor Vevera, General Director of ICI Bucharest, present at the Romanian Internet Technologies Event 2023

Today, October 25, 2023, Adrian-Victor Vevera, the General Director of ICI Bucharest, participated in the Romanian Internet Technologies Event 2023 conference, where he discussed the connection of Romania to the Internet on February 26, 1993.

"30 years ago, the first Internet connection was made through a ".ro" domain at ICI Bucharest, when our fieldwork was just beginning. One of the directions we have today is the area of cyber diplomacy, which can influence a new type of international relations because technologies are changing society and also changing the way of diplomatic relations. In this area, the institute is a partner in the network of the European Security and Defense College, where we proposed a pilot project, and now we are in the third year of implementing the cyber diplomacy course. I believe that only through collaboration, sharing of ideas and continuous learning, we can harness the true potential of the Internet, thus bringing about positive changes," said Adrian-Victor Vevera, the institute's general director.

The National Association of Internet Service Providers in Romania organised the event to mark 30 years of Internet in Romania. During the conference, Internet service providers, Internet content developers and various Internet users discussed developments in the field.

The main topics were Internet technologies and the evolution of Internet content (from simple, unstructured and accessible data to today's cloud media based on container technology, OpenAI, virtual reality or the current DevOps software production model used by most companies today IT).
