Today, November 15, 2024, ICI Bucharest and Agerpres launched the project "AI Application - Agerpres News" and presented the results of the pilot project "Agerpres Daily News | Hold History" at the Palace of the Parliament, those present having the opportunity to learn details about the use of emerging technologies in the protection of information and combating disinformation.
The application "Știrile Agerpres" uses artificial intelligence to analyse and distribute reliable information to the public, helping to filter irrelevant or disinformation content. By integrating AI technology, the project offers a solution designed to support media organisations in their effort to maintain public trust in quality journalism.
During the event, the representatives of Agerpres and ICI Bucharest reiterated the importance of collaboration with news producers and launched an open call to all media institutions in Romania to join this project. The benefits of the application in preserving the authenticity of news were highlighted, demonstrating that the project can provide essential support in building a safe and trustworthy media space for the general public.
"The AI application - Agerpres News is a pilot project. An application that we want to use to be a partner, an assistant that can bring you news from a validated feed of the AGERPRES National Press Agency. We want to open this project to all those who generate news, who want to find themselves with their news on a stream that can be accessed online, that can be "read" by Artificial Intelligence," said Adrian-Victor Vevera, general director of ICI Bucharest.
"The product we are trying to launch today has already been implemented by European agencies. We have all realised that the world has no more patience to read one more news. The process of summarising is very important, and that is what this application does. It uses the news created by AGERPRES journalists and turns it into a somewhat contextual summary so that something can be understood. Here we are talking about a platform that will take us to the target audience, the young, just as the idea was with the NFT project", added Claudia-Victoria Nicolae, general director of Agerpres.
The organisers invited all news producers in Romania to join this innovative project aimed at promoting quality journalism and ensuring the integrity of the information transmitted to the public. By joining this project, media organisations will be able to validate their news content in real-time and actively engage in combating disinformation, benefiting from emerging technologies.
During the launch, students from the Romanian-American University, the National School of Political and Administrative Studies (SNSPA), the Titu Maiorescu University, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and the University of Bucharest actively participated, bringing fresh perspectives and relevant questions about the impact of blockchain and NFTs on news integrity, as well as the role of artificial intelligence in the future of media. Their enthusiastic participation demonstrated the new generation's interest in adopting emerging technologies and finding solutions in the fight against disinformation. The organisers emphasised the importance of the involvement of young people in such initiatives, highlighting that their ideas will contribute to shaping a more transparent journalism and more adapted to the needs of the modern public.
