ICI Bucharest and INSEAD organized a lecture on "How can smaller countries compete with the big players in the technology industry"

The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics (ICI Bucharest), in collaboration with the prestigious INSEAD business school, organized a lecture on "How smaller countries can compete with the big players in the technology industry", with the support of the Club Romania Publishing House.

The event took place on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in the presence of Mr. Bogdan-Gruia Ivan, the minister of research, innovation and digitization and Mr. Valeriu Zgonea, the president of ANCOM, and brought together professionals, entrepreneurs and decision-makers.

"In a world dominated by technological giants, Romania and other smaller countries can succeed in competing through innovation and agility. ICI Bucharest is dedicated to supporting the local technology ecosystem, using AI and other advanced solutions to bring added value to the global market," said Dr. Eng. Adrian-Victor Vevera, Director General of ICI Bucharest. "We are delighted to partner with INSEAD to deliver knowledge tailored to local and regional needs."

As a research and development centre in information technology in Romania, ICI Bucharest plays an essential role in developing and promoting artificial intelligence and advanced technological solutions. In recent years, Romania has become an emerging hub for technological innovation in Central and Eastern Europe, thanks to an ecosystem of tech start-ups, investments in STEM education and a dynamic IT&C sector. Artificial intelligence plays a central role in these transformations, and through institutions such as ICI Bucharest, Romania develops strategic partnerships to adopt and integrate emerging technologies at the national and international levels.

The topics proposed by INSEAD Distinguished Professor Philip M. Parker, whose expertise is globally recognized, were focused on rapid innovation, local adaptability and the effective use of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics, for to build sustainable competitive advantages. The professor addressed access to global markets through digital platforms, international partnerships, and the development of local technological ecosystems.

Event attendees had access to relevant case studies and interactive sessions exploring ways smaller countries and SMEs can build strong niches and develop strategic relationships with global players.
