ICI Bucharest is a co-organizer for the 6th edition of the International School of Imaging with Medical Applications (SSIMA)

Two of the members of ROHEALTH, the National Institute for Research - Development in Informatics - ICI Bucharest and the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, in partnership with Oradea City Hall, organize the 6th edition of the International School of Imaging with Medical Applications (SSIMA) on September 5-9, 2022.

Under the auspices of the most prestigious professional society in this field, The Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention Society (MICCAI), the event will take place in Oradea. It brings together world-class specialists, professors from prestigious universities, representatives of companies from the field, policymakers, as well as participants from different professional backgrounds.

Within SSIMA, there will be presented and discussed the latest innovations in the medical field, such as applications of artificial health intelligence (digital colonoscopy, patient twinning for precision therapy, algorithm that determines the risk of death and when it occurs in people with cardiovascular disease), the latest innovations from robotic surgery but also design thinking and investments in health.

The SSIMA academic conference consists of three types of events:

  1. Interactive lectures with world-class researchers in the field of medical technology;
  2. Roundtable discussions between health leaders (hospital directors, policymakers, and other high-level decision-makers) to promote cooperation and understanding;
  3. Practical sessions for participants, led by top researchers and leaders in the field, to understand the practical applications and practice teamwork.

There will also be two workshops: Deep Learning in Medical Imaging (Prof. Bart Romeny, Eindhoven University of Technology) and Fundamental skills in scientific writing and presentations (Prof. Alex Frangi, University of Leeds, UK).

For health organizations, there will be a panel on emergency management and the digitalization of hospitals. This panel will be hosted by Professor Michael Halberthal (Director General of Rambam Hospital in Israel).
