The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest is participating, between July 28–30, 2026, in the second edition of the CyberSea Festival. The event is dedicated to cybersecurity and includes demonstrations, practical activities and meetings between specialists, institutions, companies, researchers and students.
Dr. Eng. Adrian-Victor Vevera, General Director of ICI Bucharest, participated as a speaker at the opening of the festival, where he spoke about the importance of collaboration in this field: “In cybersecurity, it is not enough to have good ideas. We need teams, infrastructure and collaboration between institutions, the research environment and companies. Romania has the capacity to develop its own solutions, and such events are important because they allow us to present them, test them and connect them with the real needs of society”, said Dr. Eng. Adrian-Victor Vevera, General Director of ICI Bucharest.
ICI Bucharest is also present in the festival's exhibition area, with a stand where visitors can see and test some of the technologies developed by the institute's teams. The digital forensic laboratory specialists present ScanX, a software solution for quickly verifying identity documents. The application can process documents from over 174 countries, works even without an internet connection and offers real-time translation in over 129 languages.
At the same stand, the IoT team presents robots in action and demonstrations through which participants can learn how smart devices communicate with each other and how such technologies can be used in everyday activities. The team's activity includes developing and testing systems that use sensors, connected devices, and tools for collecting and analysing information.
Visitors can also try a virtual reality application using VR glasses. They can enter a virtual space and go through an escape room-type educational experience, in which they must discover clues and solve different challenges. The application combines virtual reality with elements of artificial intelligence and offers a learning experience through play. The ICI Bucharest stand can be visited throughout the CyberSea Festival, until July 30, 2026.
