ICI Bucharest participates in the first regional workshop of the Symbiosis project, organised by the European Defence Agency in Bucharest

The first regional workshop within the Symbiosis project (Offshore Renewable Energy for Defence) is organised in Bucharest by the European Defence Agency (EDA), assisted by ICI Bucharest and the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Centre. The event takes place on 30-31 May 2024, bringing together experts, researchers and representatives of European Ministries of Defence and industry to discuss and explore innovative solutions in offshore renewable energy in the field of defence.

Adrian-Victor Vevera, the general director of the institute, spoke in the opening of the workshop, mentioning the cooperation with the EDA in the Consultation Forum for Sustainable Energy in the Defence and Security Sector (CF SEDSS), underlining the importance of cyber security in vendor ecosystems and supply chains and thanking the EDA representatives for participating in the Digital Innovation Summit Bucharest.

During the event, ICI Bucharest representatives will moderate two panels, contributing to discussions on integrating these technologies in the European strategic context and identifying best practices and innovative solutions.

During the workshop, the participants will have the opportunity to participate in presentation sessions and interactive discussions, thus sharing their knowledge and experiences and creating new opportunities for collaboration.

The Symbiosis project, coordinated by EDA, aims to explore the intersection between naval forces and offshore renewable energy technologies and to support defence infrastructure and operations. This project represents a unique opportunity for collaboration between European countries to increase defence capabilities through sustainable and green energy sources.
