ICI Bucharest participates in the kickoff meeting of the European project "AI Factories"

The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest participates, as a partner, in the official launch meeting (kickoff) of the European project AI Factories, held at the headquarters of the project coordinator, Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS), in Spain.

ICI Bucharest's presence at this meeting reflects the active role that the institute has within the consortium, as a partner: "Participating in the kickoff meeting of the AI Factories project is an important stage for both ICI Bucharest and Romania. We are happy to be part of the first generation of European artificial intelligence factories and to contribute, through our expertise, to Europe's digital goals. We aim to support the development of safe, efficient and ethical AI solutions for the benefit of citizens and the digital economy." said Adrian-Victor Vevera, general director of ICI Bucharest.

This meeting marks the concrete start of one of the most ambitious initiatives of the European Union in artificial intelligence. The AI Factories project is supported by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) and financed by European and national funds to create a network of AI factories to accelerate the digital transformation of Europe.

By its involvement in this large-scale project, ICI Bucharest strengthens Romania's position within the European network of AI Factories, which includes centers in Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain and Sweden. The initiative promotes international cooperation and supports the sustainable and competitive development of artificial intelligence technologies on a European scale.
