Companies, startups, and researchers in Romania can already start artificial intelligence projects using European supercomputing resources, without having to wait for RO AI Factory to become operational. Through BSC AI Factory, they can access European infrastructure, while ICI Bucharest can support them throughout the needs assessment, application and onboarding process.
This opportunity was presented at the event “#B2Com | Strategic Technologies for the Economy of the Future”, organised by Măgurele Science Park on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, in Bucharest. The event focused on technologies with strategic potential and on how they can move more quickly from research and development to practical use in the economy.
The presentation connected the two initiatives: BSC AI Factory, through which users in Romania can already access resources and services, and RO AI Factory, the national infrastructure currently under development. ICI Bucharest is one of the four partners in BSC AI Factory, alongside organisations from Spain, Portugal and Türkiye. Through this project, users in Romania can access infrastructure and a portfolio of services dedicated to artificial intelligence projects. The ICI team provides support from the initial needs assessment through onboarding and follow-up.
At the same time, ICI Bucharest is coordinating the development of RO AI Factory, Romania’s national infrastructure dedicated to artificial intelligence and part of the EuroHPC AI Factories network. It will be hosted at the institute’s data centre and will bring together computing resources, expertise and services for the development and testing of AI solutions. The targeted areas include manufacturing and industry, cybersecurity, life sciences, digital public services and autonomous systems.
ICI Bucharest’s participation in #B2Com therefore highlighted not only the infrastructure currently being developed in Romania, but also the resources that companies, startups, researchers and public institutions can already use to launch or expand their artificial intelligence projects.
