On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics – ICI Bucharest received a visit from the members of the Alexandria Local Youth Council (CLTA), a group of approximately 40 students.
CLTA is a youth organisation in the municipality of Alexandria, with a functioning model inspired by the structure of a real local council. High school students are democratically elected and carry out their activities through structures such as the mayor, the deputy mayor, and working committees. Established in 2002, CLTA represents an example of civic involvement and active participation of young people in community life.
During the visit to ICI Bucharest, the five leaders of the group gave a brief presentation of the organisation, discussing their initiative, how they organise, and the projects they carry out in the local community. The meeting program then included an interactive and applied component. The students were organised so that they participated, by rotation, both in the session dedicated to the presentation of the projects carried out within the institute and in the visit to the laboratories.
Thus, some of the students initially stayed with the representatives of ICI Bucharest for the presentation of the institute's projects, while the other participants, divided into groups, visited the laboratories, having the opportunity to discover the activities and technologies developed in the fields of Internet of Things (IoT) and Virtual Reality (VR). Subsequently, the groups rotated so that all students had the opportunity to participate in both the presentations and the laboratory tour.
The meeting offered the students from Alexandria the opportunity to interact directly with specialists and to better understand the role of applied research. ICI Bucharest encourages such partnerships and exchanges of experience, designed to inspire new generations and foster a culture of participation, responsibility, and interest in digital transformation.
