The National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics (ICI Bucharest) was represented as the moderator of Working Group 3 on the Protection of Critical Energy Infrastructures within the Consultation Forum for Sustainable Energy in the Defence and Security Sector (CF SEDSS). The event, organized by the European Defense Agency (EDA), reached its sixth edition on November 22-23, 2023, in Malaga, under the auspices of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
More than 180 experts from 29 European countries and more than 30 different institutions and organizations discussed energy efficiency measures in military buildings, electrification of military transport, energy storage, decommissioning of defence-related critical energy infrastructure and energy transition. Participants were informed about EU energy policies and strategies.
The project started in 2015 with the primary goal of creating a defense energy community to share relevant information and best practices to achieve sustainable energy goals. ICI Bucharest has been involved in CF SEDSS since 2017. Participation in this Consultation Forum underlines ICI Bucharest's dedication to critical infrastructure protection and resilience in various areas, including energy, and its ability to contribute to political and technical discussions at the European international level.
