ICI Bucharest was represented at the conference "Defending the Law at the Digital Frontier" by General Director Adrian-Victor Vevera, who spoke at the first panel of the event - Means of combating illegal online advocacy.
Organized by the National Union of Bars of Romania (UNBR), the conference brought together legal and technological experts to debate solutions regarding combating illegal online advocacy and protecting confidential data in the context of cyber threats.
Adrian-Victor Vevera emphasized the importance of collaboration between regulatory and research and development institutions in order to create a safe digital environment for the legal profession. He highlighted the need for effective mechanisms to identify and eliminate illegal practices in the online space, stating: "Lawyers manage confidential information, and unauthorized access to it can have serious consequences. Technology can provide essential solutions for protecting data and combating clandestine advocacy, which, like cyberattacks, exploits users' vulnerabilities.
Moreover, blockchain is not just about cryptocurrencies; it can ensure legal information's validation, traceability, and security. Implementing digital solutions such as smart contracts and electronic identification systems can prevent fraud and ensure online services' authenticity. The legal profession must adopt these technologies early to remain relevant and protected in the digital age." ICI Bucharest remains an active partner in initiatives to digitize and secure the liberal professions, contributing through its expertise to creating technological solutions for data protection and combating illegal practices in the online environment.
