ICI Bucharest, through Dr. Eng. Adrian-Victor Vevera, general director, participates in the "Critical Infrastructure Protection & Resilience Europe" (CIPRE) conference, held in Madrid, Spain, between November 12-14, 2024. The event, part of the series CIP Week in Europe, brings together industry leaders, operators, agencies and government representatives, who have joined forces to address current and future challenges in Europe's critical infrastructure security.
During this conference, Dr. Eng. Adrian-Victor Vevera was a speaker in the "Cyber Regulations, Standards and Best Practice" panel, held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. The panel addressed current topics such as the CER and NIS2 directives and their impact on European organizations. The general director of ICI Bucharest emphasized the urgent need for clear standards and strong regulations to combat the increasingly frequent cyber attacks coming from both state actors and criminal groups. In the context of the increasing number of attacks on critical infrastructures – from power plants and chemical plants to nuclear power plants – developing a framework of best practices and standardized defence methods is imperative.
Dr. Eng. Adrian-Victor Vevera emphasized that "cyber attacks on critical infrastructures are no longer just hypothetical threats, but realities that can cause human losses, infrastructure destruction, economic disruption and huge costs. It is essential to ensure that clear regulations and the implementation of uniform security practices reinforce cyber defence measures."
The CIPRE 2024 conference is a meeting point for over 250 delegates and 50 speakers, who share experiences, develop collaborations and discuss the latest technologies and solutions in protecting European critical infrastructures. The event reaffirms Europe's commitment to a collaborative and strategic approach to strengthening the security and resilience of these vital structures.
