Yesterday, September 20, 2023, Adrian-Victor Vevera, the general director of ICI Bucharest, was present at the annual conference of the International Council for Information Technology in Government Administration (ICA), where he was unanimously elected as vice-chair for the next two years.

"Information technology has the power to generate efficiency, transparency and accessibility in the public sector, beneficiaries being the citizens we serve. However, at the intersection of technology and governance, we face new challenges every day, from cybersecurity threats to the ethical use of AI and data analytics. In my capacity as Vice-Chair, I am committed to encouraging collaboration among member countries, emphasizing the importance of expanding the reach of our Council by actively seeking and welcoming new members. New perspectives and ideas will enrich the discussions and add to our collective expertise. At the same time, I want to congratulate ICA members for their expertise, dedication and passion for this cause. Together, we will harness the potential of technology to secure citizens' lives, improve public services and promote good governance." said Adrian-Victor Vevera, general director of ICI Bucharest.

The theme of this conference, held in Brussels, Belgium, is "Digital Services: Going from Smart to Intelligent and Beyond", and among the topics covered are the importance of good data governance and management, e-ID and eWallet: implementation approaches, considerations, and policy challenges, cybersecurity latest trends, RTE and sustainable technologies in the public sector.

With a history spanning decades, ICA members have been actively engaged in the spectacular evolution of technology, how it has reshaped governance and how citizens interact with administration and the government environment. Through their experience and their knowledge, the members of this board are an invaluable source of learning and exchange of ideas to everyone involved in public administration and ICT, being a community with a long tradition that demonstrates a lasting commitment to promoting excellence.

ICA offers a unique international forum that has been supporting CIOs and senior managers in public administrations since 1968, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of government administration and ICT. Each year ICA's officers identify an issue of vital importance in the realization of its objectives as the theme for its Annual Conference.
