On September 16, 2025, the project Romanian System for Identification and Marking of Wrecks on the Danube River - RoSIBEFD, code SMIS 2021+ 332354, implemented by TRENCADIS CORP SRL (Leader) in partnership with TECHNOHUB SRL, MINDWORKS SRL, the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics - ICI Bucharest, "Dunărea de Jos" University of Galați began.
The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Smart Growth, Digitalisation and Financial Instruments Programme 2021-2027 (PoCIDIF), call code PCIDIF/159/PCIDIF_P1/OP1/RSO1.1/PCIDIF_A1 - Support for RDI projects for thematic consortia between public-private partners, under Action 1.1, Measure 1.1.2, based on the financing contract no. 390059 of 16.09.2025 concluded with the National Research Authority (ANC), through OIC - Directorate General Intermediate Body for Research for the Smart Growth, Digitalisation and Financial Instruments Programme 2021 - 2027 (PoCIDIF).
The total value of the financing contract is 51,674,408.28 lei, of which:
* Total non-reimbursable value: 40,557,219.51 lei
* Eligible non-reimbursable value (EU): 32,556,932.90 lei
* Eligible non-reimbursable value (national budget): 8,000,286.61 lei

The general objective of the project is to strengthen the RDI infrastructure and the innovation capacity of the partners in order to advance, based on multidisciplinary innovative technologies (computer science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, electronics and communications, physics, chemistry, biology), beyond the current state of the art in wreck identification and marking, towards a smart network of sensors, communication elements and analysis software that will enable the development of a new generation of IoT products and technologies in the field of river traffic. By collecting and ensuring the availability of this information, current water traffic management systems will become more efficient and will allow traffic to be managed in a more efficient and safer way.
The specific objectives of the project are:
- OS1. Research, design, development and testing over a period of 27 months of industrial research activities of a laboratory prototype in the field of wreck identification and marking.
- OS2. Design, development, testing and evaluation over a period of 9 months of experimental development activities of a commercially usable prototype RoSIBEFD that provides the collection of information on the position of wrecks and access to data in a dedicated software platform.
- OS3. Increasing the level of RDI collaboration and technology transfer between consortium members (5 partners) within seven joint RDI sub-activities over 36 months.
- OS4. Making an initial investment in the South-East region to introduce RDI results into production by participating SMEs.
