ICI Bucharest participated in the CF SEDSS IV conference

ICI Bucharest participated in the second conference of the fourth phase of the Consultation Forum for Sustainable Energy in the Defence and Security Sector (CF SEDSS IV), held in Slovenia from 2 to 3 December 2025. The event, organised by the European Defence Agency (EDA) and hosted by the Slovenian Ministry of Defence, brought together approximately 140 experts from European defence ministries, European Union institutions, industry and academia, representing 26 countries (23 EU Member States, Norway, Serbia and Switzerland).

The conference aimed to strengthen cooperation in energy resilience and sustainability in the defence sector, marking the transition from planning to implementation. Participants worked on developing innovative project concepts, refining proposals for future studies, and elaborating guides and roadmaps for resilient and sustainable energy solutions, with a focus on aligning efforts between working groups and expert communities.

The working sessions addressed topics such as national defence energy strategies, advanced energy storage, smart grids, energy management systems, and alternative fuels, presenting best practices at the European level. The program also included a technical visit to renovated Slovenian military barracks for the evaluation of energy efficiency solutions.

ICI Bucharest’s participation in CF SEDSS IV is part of the institute’s constant involvement in this European endeavour, started in 2015 to create a defence energy community that would facilitate the exchange of information and best practices to achieve sustainable energy goals. ICI Bucharest has been active in the Forum since 2017 and, since 2019, has been moderating Working Group 3 on Critical Energy Infrastructure Protection, contributing to the proposal of projects, the development of studies and the drafting of reference documents for the European Commission.
