Research Initiatives

International partnerships contribute to the generation of new opportunities for participation in joint research projects, funded at EU level.

ICI is integrated into the European scientific landscape, being involved, over time, in the EC-PECO, COPERNICUS, SAVE, IST and ESPRIT, FP, Horizon 2020, Erasmus and ERDF programs, in a variety of ICT-related areas: e-Government, e-Learning, e-Health, Grid, Cloud Computing, strategic development, Open Science Cloud, Energy. Among the European projects carried out in recent years let us note: EGI-InSPIRE, Cloud for Europe, FORSEE, SPOCS, eSens, PP4 Broadband, Ideal-ist, COMENIUS-CNW, gEclipseGrid, E-insurance training, HoCare, TOOP, CULMED, NI4OS, EuroCC.

In 2013, ICI organized the first meeting in Romania of the ISEG - NATO Expert Group.

In 2014, ICI signed an agreement with the Government Agency for the Information Society of South Korea (NIA), based on which the Romanian-South Korean Center for IT Cooperation (ITCC) was established, with the aim to promote the information society by developing of joint projects of mutual interest.

In 2018, ICI Bucharest became a co-founder of the Global Digital Innovation Alliance, established in Seoul, in order to create an urban ecosystem capable of solving urban problems and strengthening sustainable development. Founding members: South Korea, USA, Romania, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, Portugal.

In 2018, ICI Bucharest signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ireland on Ambient Assisted Living, a Memorandum of Cooperation with Old Dominion University - ODU, Virginia, United States, on the occasion of the establishment of the European Center for Excellence for Blockchain (ECEB) and a Memorandum of Cooperation with STOP. THINK. CONNECT. -Messaging Convention - global online awareness campaign on digital security, conducted under the auspices of the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) and the United States National Cyber ​​Security Alliance (NCSA).

Also, ICI Bucharest was a partner organization for the international competition HackIstanbul 2018 CTF (Capture the Flag), together with profile organizations (EC-Council, APWG, ISSA, EEMA, ECS).

From 2018, ICI Bucharest becomes a IT cooperation hub for the Asia Pacific region, the Middle East and Africa, following the protocol concluded with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 2019, ICI Bucharest became a member of the European Security and Defense College network.

In 2019, ICI Bucharest accredited the Training and Testing Center - Certified Ethical Hatching (EC-Council).

In 2020, ICI Bucharest started operationalizing the Competence Center in the field of HPC.

In 2020, ICI Bucharest organized the first pilot courses under the auspices of the European Security and Defense College - "Cyberdiplomacy - Tool for Strategic Foreign Policy" and "CIP - Emerging Technologies Transforming CIP".

Since 2020 ICI Bucharest is a member of EDIH - Cyber ​​Security HUB (CSH).

Since 2020 ICI Bucharest is a member of EDIH - Danube DIH.

Ongoing partnerships

  • Consultation Forum for Sustainable Energy in Defense and Security Sectors, organized by the European Defense Agency (2018-2023), aiming to create feasibility studies and drafting of supporting documents for the European Commission on specific policies in the fields of energy, defense and critical infrastructure. ICI acts as a moderator within the Critical Energy Infrastructure Protection Group;
  • the working group on "Construction 4.0 and cyber security", organized by the New York University of Abu Dhabi, preparing and delivering a White paper on "Construction 4.0 and critical infrastructures" to the European Commission;
  • partnership with ENEA - Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development, for an EISAC technology transfer project for modeling and simulation of multi-sectoral critical infrastructure systems by geographical areas - EISAC.ro, integrated in the EISAC network of ENEA (Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, France);
  • European Union Joint Research Center partnership in Ispra, Italy for the European Security and Defense College (ESDC) course for critical infrastructure in 2020 and for the transfer of the Poseidon platform;
  • partnership with the consortium of the European Galleon project, with the objective to explore and formulate European governance policies in the context of the major challenges of the security environment and the economic, political, social and security needs of the European Union and EU Member States;
  • partnership with the National Defense College within the „Carol I” National Defense University;
  • partnership with the MEPEI Institute and the EURISC Foundation on "Belt and Road and Critical Infrastructure Protection", ICI - IC International Forum;
  • collaboration for the development of a White Paper for the European Commission on "Health Security and Critical Infrastructure Protection".
