On December 3-5, 2024, at the Maritime University of Constanta, the international conference "Navigating Cyber Storms: Civilian and Defence Synergy in a Digitalised World" was held. The event, organized under the aegis of the ECYBRIDGE project, highlighted the collaboration between the civil and defence sectors to face present and future cyber challenges.
A highlight of the conference was the panel "Securing Critical Infrastructure through EU Cybersecurity Synergy", moderated by the representative of ICI Bucharest. The panel explored how the European Union Member States and their partners can collaborate to strengthen the cybersecurity of critical infrastructure. By stimulating synergy between policy frameworks, industry standards and technological innovation, this discussion aimed to identify implementable strategies to mitigate cyber threats. The session examined the role of private-public-military cooperation, cross-border cooperation, the integration of advanced cybersecurity tools and the development of a unified European approach to protecting essential sectors such as energy, health, finance and transport.
The moderation carried out by ICI Bucharest provided a clear and structured framework for exchanging ideas and innovative solutions, and the participants appreciated the relevance and dynamism of the discussions. The panel highlighted the need for effective collaboration between all parties involved – from policymakers to technological innovators – to protect critical infrastructures in an increasingly complex digital environment.
